Greetings F/friends! - I thought I would write a few words to introduce myself:
My name is Simon Latham, I am 30 years old, and I live in Telford in Shropshire. I currently work in the Planning Policy section of my Local Council, and amongst other things I enjoy Morris Dancing, and helping my brother at his allotment. I have been an attender at Telford Quaker Meeting for nearly 3 years. Over the last 15 months I have become increasingly involved with Young Friends General Meeting (YFGM), and am currently a representative on Quaker Life Representative Council, and serve on YFGM Nominations Committee. I have come to really treasure the friendship and fellowship that is nurtured amongst the community of Young Adult Friends.
My blog is called 'Under The Green Hill', where I share my thoughts and feelings about Quakerism. This will be my first Britain Yearly Meeting (BYM), and I am really excited about attending. I am particularly looking forward to meeting new Friends, and gaining insights that will challenge my quirky perspectives on Quakerism. During BYM I hope to find inspiration from the various organised activities including the Sessions, the Special Interest Groups and the Swarthmore Lecture. I also look forward to simply soaking up, and reflecting upon, the atmosphere of this national Quaker gathering.
Together with my other blogging Friends who will be updating this site, it is great to have the opportunity to share our own personal experiences, and in so doing extend the hand of friendship outside the geographical confines of Britain Yearly Meeting to everyone who comes across this site and freely gives their time to read this blog.
Cheers and all the best,
Simon
